    Where: Riverside Drive, from Rossland Road West to Delaney Drive in the Town of Ajax.

  • Protecting biodiversity and wetlands: Funding secured to battle invasive Phragmites

    Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region has received a one-time grant of $45,000 through the Invasive Phragmites Control Fund (IPCF)—part of the Ontario Phragmites Action program (OPA)—to support efforts in managing and reducing the spread of invasive Phragmites australis. The funding is made possible thanks to the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and is coordinated by the Invasive Species Centre and Nature Conservancy of Canada.

  • Give your batteries a new life: recycle your batteries the week of October 6

    Whitby, Ontario – Don't let your old batteries go to waste! The Region of Durham is calling on residents to recycle their used household batteries by placing them on top of their closed Green Bin during collection days the week of October 6.

    When: Fall battery collection occurs from October 6 to 10 on Green Bin collection days.

  • Lane restrictions on Lake Ridge Road in the Township of Brock

    Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region is advising residents of upcoming lane restrictions on Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23) in the Township of Brock.

    When: Most of the work will take place between September 29 until the end of November 2025, with the final road paving work to take place in 2026.

    Whitby, Ontario – On September 26, 2025, the Region of Durham is hosting a walk in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

  • KI tablets available to those who live and work near nuclear generating stations

    Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region Health Department is reminding all residents and businesses located within 10 kilometres of the Pickering and Darlington nuclear generating stations to ensure they have a supply of potassium iodide (KI) pills readily available.

    KI pills are a part of nuclear emergency preparedness.

  • Changes to Regional services in observance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

    Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of impacts to Regional programs and services on September 30 in observance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

    When and Where: On Tuesday, September 30, the following programs and/or services will be impacted:

    • Durham Regional Headquarters in Whitby will be closed, including provincial courts and offices, Ontario Works Office and the Child Care and Early Years Division Office.
