    Lane restrictions on Caleb, Clark and Elgin streets in Scugog

    Durham Region is advising residents of lane restrictions on Caleb Street, Clark Street and Elgin Street in the Township of Scugog from August 17 to December 15 to safely complete watermain replacements.

    Mosquitoes test positive in Pickering and Whitby for West Nile virus

    Durham Region Health Department has received notification that batches of adult mosquitoes collected in Pickering and Whitby have tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV). This brings the total to 21 batches of mosquitoes that have tested positive for WNV in Durham Region so far this season; previous positive mosquito batches were found in Ajax, Clarington and Oshawa.

    Lane restrictions on Bayly Street in the City of Pickering

    Upcoming lane restrictions overnight from August 16 to 21, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. on Bayly Street, from Salk Road to Brock Road, in the City of Pickering to allow for Elexicon Energy infrastructure placement.

    Celebrate a decade of DRIFF: Limited festival passes on sale August 15

    The Durham Region International Film Festival (DRIFF) returns in October, and this year there is even more to celebrate as DRIFF marks 10 years of bringing filmmakers and audiences together. A limited number of all-access Festival Passes go on sale August 15, giving film lovers an opportunity to be part of this milestone year before the official lineup is announced.

  • Durham-Scarborough Bus Rapid Transit construction update: lane shifts and signal changes on Kingston Road in Ajax

    The Regional Municipality of Durham is continuing construction for the Durham-Scarborough Bus Rapid Transit (DSBRT) project on Kingston Road (Regional Highway 2) from 300 metres west of Harwood Avenue to Galea Drive in the Town of Ajax.

    As part of the work, significant lane reconfigurations will occur at Salem Road and Harwood Avenue intersections, including traffic signal timing adjustments to accommodate the centre median and transit station construction.

    Lane restrictions on Regional Road 15 in the Township of Brock

    Lane restrictions, with intermittent overnight road closures, in effect until December 2027 on Regional Road 15 in the Township of Brock to allow for the construction of the permanent Beaver River Bridge. For more information, please visit durham.ca/BeaverRiverBridge.

    Upcoming road closure on Bowmanville Avenue in Clarington
    Durham Region advises residents that Bowmanville Avenue (Regional Road 57), between Waverly Road and Aspen Springs Drive, will be closed on the weekends of Aug. 21 to 24 and Aug. 28 to 31 to accommodate construction of a pedestrian tunnel. Emergency access will be maintained, signed detours will be in place and area businesses will remain open during the closure.

    Upcoming lane restrictions on Harmony Road North (Regional Road 33) and Britannia Avenue East, Oshawa
    Motorists in Oshawa should expect upcoming lane restrictions at Harmony Road North (Regional Road 33) and Britannia Avenue East as road work takes place in the area in support of new development. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and follow posted signs and traffic control measures.

    Permanent Beaver River Bridge construction set to begin

    The Beaver River Bridge east of Beaverton will soon be under construction. The Regional Municipality of Durham, with funding provided by the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, has begun work to replace the temporary structure currently in place with a permanent structure.
